Gye Nyame Dua © Jean Derricotte-Murphy 2024

The Gye Nyame Dua represents a space for worshiping the Omnipotent, Divine Creator. It is the blending of two Adinkra Symbols of the Asante People of Ghana, West Africa:

Gye Nyame — Except for God; The Omnipotence and Supremacy of the Devine Creator

Nyame Dua — A sacred space or altar for rituals and worship. Represents the presence and protection
of the Creator

Mission: Akwaaba

Akwaaba” means ‘welcome’ in Twi, a language of the Akan people of Ghana, West Africa. Our mission at Akwaaba Ministries is to create a welcoming and affirming space where worshiping the Almighty, Omnipotent Creator of the Universe unfolds in places and spaces without walls.

Vision: Healing

Committed to “Healing Through History,” Akwaaba Ministries aims to create a safe, sacred worship space while decolonizing scripture and minds. It does this by critically re-examining the sacred texts of the Hebrew Bible through the lens of the Black experience while offering the love of Jesus of Nazareth to all people.

Our vision at Akwaaba Ministries is to promote healing and restoration through fellowship, prayer, and ritual. We aim to undo the long-lasting, negative effects of colonialism on communities of color by offering healing for the wounded, restoration for the broken, and the re-membering of fractured individuals and communities into wholly healed entities.
